EBPREC's Action Packed Summer
Greetings Beloved Community,
May summer's end days be in good flow for you. EBPREC is in forward motion. Ch, Ch, Changes...
New Staff Collective!!!!
Woot! Some core folks who have been part of the workings to build the model have raised enough growth capital to form a staff collective, with a big thank you to those who have supported this labor of love on all levels including through much needed infusions of gift capital.
New Board Members!!!
Welcome to the Board Ojan and Eric!
EBPREC Historian!!
Saki Davis will be memorializing and analyzing the EBPREC model in light of other approaches to housing, permanent affordability & community risk aggregation - Here is her article about EBPREC in Shareable!
Office Space!
Weβve hung out our shingle. Come visit us in the California Legal Rural Assistance Building at 1428 Franklin St suite 201 for one of our upcoming events.
EBPREC Fundraising Campaign
Donβt forget! EBPREC is changing the game in terms of our ability to retain land in the midst of this crazy land grab happening right now in Oakland. We are helping small grassroots & POC led groups collectively acquire mixed use property in Oakland in the East Bay.
We build in Democratic Governance, Permanent Affordability, and we take the land Permanently off the Speculative Market and simulate Home Ownership to break the rent-cycle and revive Local Economy.
Itβs an innovative and radical model of collective housing and land acquisition that uses community investment campaigns to pool capital and attract impact investors, activist banks & property owners. For more information, please take a look at our Open Letter.
And...we have funding on deck for our first property acquisition at the end of this year! (described in last newsletter)
To get us there, we are launching a matching grant campaign and striving to secure at least $30,000 in growth capital in the next 3 months. Can you help? These are the things we need:
- Advice. We are looking to reach people who would be able to give gift capital of $1K to $10K philanthropic towards this very important model. We would love your advice.
- Exposure. We need People who believe in the vision of Homes for All to spread the work through emails, conversation and social media posts
- Take the pledge to become a founding stakeholder on our website!
Tea Time with an Organizer If any you have time to get together for coffee or tea, or even chat by phone that would be great. Give the donor development team a shout at noni@ebprec.org
Summer Intern
We are so grateful to have participated in the Rose Foundation's Summer Internship program. Cindy (2nd from the left) worked with us for 6 weeks learning about cooperatives while helping us build out our engagement stategy for youth. We enjoyed hosting you Cindy, and we hope you left an evangelist for the New Economy after becoming aware of CLTs, worker co-ops, housing co-ops, and the EBPREC model.

EBPREC Presented at Common Bound
Perfect time for a roadtrip!! Noni and Greg traveled by car, and made stops at the Grand Canyon, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, and Alabama before making their way to St. Louis for the conference. They met many beautiful souls along the way, and lived a 2-week experience that formed a tight bond between two of our co-leaders. The spiritual, cultural, inspirational, and economic lessons learned on this trip helped shape EBPREC's engagement framework.

Here's a video of an intentional community for homeless people that we stayed at in Austin!
Impact Investment Dinner

Thank you to all who came to the Impact Investing & Real Estate Dinner we co-hosted on August 1st at Oakstop's new offices on 14th Street in Oakland, CA. Greg, Noni, and Ojan enjoyed leading table discussions after the wonderful meal Chef Marciela cooked! We are very thankful for the Guild and the Akoma Project co-hosted a fantastic evening.
Thank you Climate Compassion Salon,
We are immensely grateful to have been received so graciously by the community at the Climate Compassion Salon in Berkeley. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting you all and diving into some very informative break out sessions.
Thank you Suzanne Potter for interviewing Noni, EBPREC's Communication and Outreach Director, about how EBPREC can help counteract Ben Carson's decision for low income renters.
