Property has long been a tool used to oppress People of Color. The impacts of slavery, redlining, and municipal disinvestment reverberate through our legal, political, and economic landscape. The solution is to re-imagine land ownership and empower our communities to steward the homes that they live in. In partnership with the Northern California Land Trust, we acquired Coop 789 last spring, thereby keeping people of color who would have otherwise been priced out of Oakland to remain housed and rooted in our community! We need to raise $200,000 between August 16th to September 30th to pay for new windows, mold removal, and other rehabilitation costs for Coop 789.
