Resisting Economic Displacement

Join us this Wednesday February 22nd from 12-1:30 for the first #Here2Stay Online and In-Person Legal Cafe!

Are you or someone you know a current or aspiring small business owner in East Oakland? Do you need assistance with choosing the best legal structure, have questions about contracts or lease agreements, or want to start a traditional business or create a worker-owned cooperative and don’t know where to start? If so, this Legal Cafe is for you!

In partnership with the Better Neighborhoods, Same Neighbors Initiative, The Black Cultural Zone, The Sustainable Economies Law Center and the Law Center for Civil Rights of the SF Bay, we are hosting a free Legal Cafe for East Oakland Small Business Owners!

Our DAP (Displacement Avoidance Program) Team is showing up for East Oakland small businesses to help make sure they have the resources to sustain and thrive! To sign up for your 30-45 minute session in-person or on Zoom, sign up below.

The EB PREC Money Team is Resisting Economic Exploitation in Investment

*New Release* Shifting Capital and Power to Build the Regenerative Economy: A Just Transition Investment Framework for Philanthropic Institutions

We are thrilled to share an exciting new resource on Just Transition Investing developed in collaboration with movement partners on the leading edge of this work!

Noni and Annie worked together along with our partners to create this toolkit on a Just Transition Investing Strategy for Funders. This Toolkit supports our ongoing work to engage with Funders on best practices for financing work like ours in a non-extractive manner. The Toolkit focuses on how philanthropic assets can be invested in ways that shifts capital and power away from the extractive economy toward local, regenerative solidarity economies that build power and self-determination in Black, Indigenous and People of Color communities.

We also participated in the live webinar announcing this publication--here is the tool and report, the recording and the slidedeck!
